Mass Effect Evolution gets surprise release after 6 years

Mass Effect fans are in for a treat!

I can never get enough of Mass Effect and Fallout, so when both worlds collide, it will most certainly gain my attention.

The first Mass Effect was released in 2007 by BioWare and became one of the most beloved sci-fi RPGs of all time, alongside the studios' other big hits, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Jade Empire. It’s why fans cannot wait for the arrival of the next instalment of the Mass Effect series, whenever that time may arrive.

Check out the Mass Effect Evolution trailer below!

What’s more, when it comes to post-apocalyptic RPGs, perhaps no franchise is more popular right now than Bethesda’s Fallout and its popularity has increased thanks to the arrival of the live-action Fallout series from Amazon Studios. Moreover, when it comes to an ever-vibrant modding community, arguably no franchises are supported more than Bethesda’s Fallout and The Elder Scrolls series.

With that in mind, if you’ve been waiting for a mod for Fallout 4 that boasts massive Mass Effect vibes, that time has finally arrived, well, kind of. ‘Mass Effect Evolution’ (which also shares the same name as a Mass Effect novel) has been in development by modder Tamlers for around six years and it looks like all that hard work has paid off.

‘Mass Effect Evolution’ is somewhat of a total overhaul conversion for Fallout 4 and it brings new stories set in a different timeline to the BioWare series, but also new areas, weapons, armour and more. Oh, and it not only features spaceships but you may even encounter the odd Mass Effect character cameo or two - plus the modder has promised more content at a later date.

It’s worth keeping in mind that ‘Mass Effect Evolution’ has not been fully developed yet, but according to its modder, that time is nigh. It should be available right now via NexusMods but at the time of writing, it’s temporarily been taken down.

An update on Tamlers' YouTube channel reads: “Hello! Unfortunately, a conflict arose on the Nexus due to some animations, and my mod was removed from it.” They went on to add though that they're seeking permissions for the relevant animations and the mod should be restored shortly, so watch this space.
