Mass Effect 5 can wait, Mass Effect just returned in surprise free DLC

There's a treat hidden inside Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Yesterday marked Mass Effect’s annual N7 Day, which is essentially a day of news and celebration held on 7 November every year.

This time around, BioWare warned of a quieter than usual affair so as not to overshadow the release of the studio’s Dragon Age: The Veilguard which launched on 31 October.

That being said, it was revealed that a Mass Effect live-action TV adaptation is in the works at Prime Video so their idea of a quieter year certainly isn’t the same as mine.

The TV adaptation wasn’t the only news to come to light.

BioWare revealed that some surprise Mass Effect-themed content has been added to Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

Take a look at the game in action below.

Essentially, Dragon Age: The Veilguard players can now don two new outfits for Rook inspired by the sci-fi franchise, albeit with a Dragon Age appropriate twist so as not to appear out of place.

To nab these outfits, first, make sure that your copy of The Veilguard is up to date.

Then you need to travel to the Lighthouse, where you’ll find a chest that can be opened by the Caretaker's Workshop.

This is what contains the armour sets, with a letter from Lace Harding.

The outfits unsurprisingly don a red and black colour scheme, in line with the outfits of those worn aboard the Normandy, and they are cosmetics so can be worn by any class.

Wondering what we thought of The Veilguard?

GAMINGbible’s Emma Flint wrote, “We’re here, the conclusion is nigh. But before the Dread Wolf catches our scent, perhaps for the very last time, we’re in for an arduous yet valiant adventure that feels right at home alongside the previous three games. Andraste, what a beautiful homecoming this is.”

All in all, it was a pretty good haul for Mass Effect fans, despite the warning of a paired-down celebration.
