Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered now has multiplayer support thanks to fans, and it looks ridiculous (in the best way possible).
Sony and Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Spider-Man titles feel like they should be, at the very least, co-op.
I get that implementing something like that is a huge ask, and the combat clearly wasn’t designed to support two Spideys hitting a random thug with a takedown at the same time, but it just feels like the overarching story of the three games is working towards a co-op mode.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 split the focus between Peter Parker and Miles Morales well, and in the trailers leading up to the game’s release, I honestly assumed that they’d eventually announce some kind of multiplayer support to tie the dual protagonist angle together… which obviously never came.

It seems the community has taken matters into their own hands, however, as mod author hbgda has just released the beta version of a multiplayer mod for Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered on PC.
Immediate heads up before you get too excited: the mod is currently locked behind a $10 Patreon tier. Don’t get too disheartened though, as it seems that it’s going to be made free to the public once they’ve ironed out the kinks.
In the meantime, you could always take a look at some gameplay footage from folks who have accessed the beta version of the mod. ComicBook’s Cade Onder compiled a whole bunch of clips together in their article, and the entire experience looks incredibly jank (but absolutely hilarious).
Watching eight Spideys dogpile Rhino is comedy gold for some reason. That poor dude is just frozen in place while several Peter Parkers shower him with construction debris.

Here’s hoping that Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 finally gives us the co-op Parker/Morales team-up we’ve been waiting for, because this mod looks like a hell of a lot of fun, even in a state as rough as this.
