Halo fans rejoice, a new game just dropped out of nowhere

Halo fans don’t always have the best of luck, we’re sad to say. However, they appear to be winning right now after a new game just launched seemingly out of nowhere.

You might still be feeling sore about that Halo 7 tease that your fellow fans roasted, which we fully appreciate.

That said, now may be the time to quell your annoyance, if only for a few minutes.

The reason being that a spin-off experience that was originally cancelled has now unexpectedly returned.

A third-person Halo experience set within the world of Mega Bloks was in the works many moons ago, codenamed Haggar.

Despite deviating from the usual aesthetic of the franchise, many fans welcomed the chance to see Master Chief take on the trials of the Mega Bloks landscape.

Alas, it wasn’t meant to be.

Even though it was scrapped and soon forgotten about by the masses, it seems that a handful of fans worked behind the scenes these last seven years to bring this project back to life.

In a video shared by YouTuber Mint Blitz, Haggar is now playable on PC via the Xenia emulator.

Although thanks has been given to the YouTuber, it’s only right we also praise the individuals who spent the time and effort restoring the game; they are Spark, Itchy.7 and Zoephie.

Haggar, while playable, is still a prototype when all is said and done.

As a result, there’s only “a few missions” to play through. Still, while the missions may not be plentiful, there’s a local co-op mode you can enjoy that'll keep the entertainment going for longer.

“I was not expecting this game to go as hard as it did, really enjoyed it and a shame it never properly released,” revealed Mint Blitz.

To this, someone else in the comments remarked, “This would have been a classic game for literally everyone the same way the LEGO games are.”

Thankfully, more is on the way.

As mentioned by @sparkthedragon, one of the people who helped restore this project, they’re “fixing more currently”.

We don’t know when they’ll be finished with the remaining work, however, at least we now have a new Halo game to play.
