If you can believe it, we’re getting a new Halo adventure in the year of our lord 2025.
It’s been a hot minute since Halo Infinite, the last game in the franchise to be released back in 2021.
Since then, the universe has been expanded through novels, comics, and short films. We also got the two-season Halo TV series on Paramount+.

Although it may be a while before we get a new game in the franchise, Halo Infinite’s story is being continued in a new novel from Kelly Gay.
Halo: Edge of Dawn takes place immediately after the events of Infinite, in which Master Chief continues the fight on Zeta Halo and seeks to unlock the secrets of the ancient ringworld.
Other Infinite characters like Fernando Esparza and The Weapon will also return in this novel, so it should be an interesting one to read, especially if you’ve just done a fresh playthrough of the game.
Edge of Dawn is written by Kelly Gay, who has contributed original works to the Halo franchise since 2016 with her debut short story, “Into the Fire”.

Since then, she has written Halo novels such as Smoke and Shadow, The Rubicon Protocol, and Epitaph.
On Reddit, fans seem torn on the announcement, as it possibly means the story of Halo Infinite won’t be continued in a future game.
“This doesn’t give me confidence in the next game continuing the story of Infinite,” wrote one fan. “Guess we’re doing this song and dance again.”
This refers to the fact that a lot of Halo stories are continued in expanded material such as novels or comics.

So fans who prefer to only play the games are left confused when the story between each entry is seemingly wrapped up off-screen.
Halo: Edge of Dawn is set for release by Simon & Schuster on 18 November, 2025.
