GTA 5 Roxwood County is a huge new map expansion you can download now

It doesn't come cheap though

Already, 2025 is shaping up to be yet another stellar year for video games.

DOOM: The Dark Ages, Fable, South of Midnight, Atomfall, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, Little Nightmares 3, Monster Hunter Wilds, Pokémon Legends : Z-A, and Professor Layton and the New World of Steam are just a few of the titles on the way.

I won’t lie, it’s that last one that I’m most excited for. I would avidly replay the entire Layton series on a loop when I was younger.

I’m aware that for most people though, the most hyped game of 2025 is one that I’ve thus far omitted from this list. Yes, Grand Theft Auto VI.

The latest instalment in Rockstar Games’ acclaimed video game series will take us back to Vice City, this time with a story centred around Bonnie and Clyde style duo Jason and Lucia.

We don’t have an exact release date for GTA VI beyond 2025 but we know far more about the game than we did just over six months ago so hey, we’ll count our blessings.

If you’re just itching for more and simply cannot wait for the launch of GTA VI, I want to direct your attention to the fan-made GTA V Roxwood County expansion.

ICYMI: Take a look at the trailer for the aforementioned DOOM: The Dark Ages below.

Created by the Ambitioneers Team, Roxwood County is an upcoming expansion mod inspired by central and northern California, “complete with farmlands, forests, caves, highways, shopping areas, water parks, and more”.

“Immerse yourself in custom interiors for various buildings, including a police station, coast guard outpost, fire station, hospital, restaurants, and shops,” the description teases.

“With new vehicles and liveries to discover, Roxwood County offers endless possibilities for FiveM server owners looking to elevate their gameplay experience. Subscribe now to elevate your GTA V adventure!”

As is mentioned in the description, you will need to be using a FiveM server in order to jump into Roxwood County - and it does come at a cost.

If you head on over to the Ambitioneers website, a monthly subscription to Roxwood and all other Ambitioneers content will currently set you back €9.59, although that figure appears to be a sale reduction from €21.59.

You can alternatively buy an early access pass for €89.99.

It’s certainly by no means a cheap purchase, rivalling the cost of a full AAA game, but this fee goes towards supporting indie developers and that’s always important.
