Not even wild horses could tear us away from persistently replaying Fallout. Any of the games will do, but we have soft spots for New Vegas, Fallout 3, and Fallout 4. Most likely the same as everyone else.

Narratively, the base games in all three are superb, however, once the base game and all its official DLC is completed, it leaves us deflated. We want more! This is when PC gamers undoubtedly have the advantage, able to savour expansions that have been hailed as some of the best the franchise has ever seen.

Easily the greatest free download available is Fallout: The Machine and Her. Anyone who’s heavily involved in the modding community, as either a mod user or a creator, will have heard of this instalment.

The trailer for Fallout: The Machine and Her is too good to miss!

Featuring a new fully voiced companion, and a quest that gives you a couple of hours are exceptional gameplay, this is a “fantastic” modded quest that should have its praises sung from the rooftops. It’s so brilliant, in fact, that Bethesda hired the modder who created it, thus proving its merits aren’t overinflated.

“Just finished the "DLC" lol (as to me, it's way more than just on par with vanilla game in case of quality) and i am just, wow!” shared one satisfied gamer. “What an absolutely amazing mod [...]Tyvm @NikaCola and your crew for such a great experience! And having peeps like me being able to enjoy what sometimes turns out to be little masterpieces.”

Other mods are worthy of mention too, such as Fallout: Gun For Hire and Sim Settlements 2, but we’d be remiss if we didn’t champion The Machine and Her first and foremost. Despite the creator no longer updating the expansion due to where they now work, the mod is still available for free on NexusMods.

We highly recommend this mod, in agreement with the fandom that this is one of the best Fallout instalments in years. Years.
