The fact that Fallout 5 is yoinks away from launch can no longer hurt me. It’s something I’ve accepted.
That being said, I do find it bizarre that Fallout, as a franchise, is seemingly skipping the current console generation.
Yes, Fallout 76 continues to be updated and Fallout 4 received a new-gen patch this year, but it’s not since the days of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One that Bethesda delivered us a new release.

Of course, the explanation here is that the studio is busy with The Elder Scrolls VI and Starfield just before that, but it’s bad timing when the Prime Video TV adaptation has left the fanbase hungrier than ever for something new.
Officially, it’s unlikely we’ll ever see a current-gen native Fallout release, as it’s far more likely that Fallout 5 will land during the next console generation.
That being said, we can get an idea of what such a project might look like thanks to this incredible fan-made partial remake of Fallout 4 made using Unreal Engine 5.

Another viewer added, “Even without video, it's beautiful and of very good quality. I hope Fallout 5 will be of this high level.”
You can say that again.
There’s a ton of pressure riding on Fallout 5.
Let’s hope The Elder Scrolls VI wins Bethesda fans over because if it does, that certainly bodes well for what comes next.
