Dark Souls: The Convergence will keep you busy until Elden Ring 2

Dark Souls returns

While I can openly admit that Elden Ring is the best game FromSoftware has made on a technical level, my passion for the Dark Souls trilogy will always see the games remain as superior for me.

My all-time favourite is Dark Souls, but again I can happily concede that Dark Souls 3 is the better game, largely because it’s actually finished.

Check out Dark Souls 3 below.

Thanks to modders, Dark Souls 3 continues to slay with expansions like The Convergence, an enormous mod that completely changes the game with new and remixed content.

According to HowLongToBeat, Dark Souls 3 takes around 30 hours to finish, going up to around 50 hours if you do a bit of exploring on the side, which you probably will.

The Convergence mod will likely extend this playtime even further as it takes the areas and enemy encounters you’re familiar with from the base game and mixes them up for a greater challenge.

According to the mod’s description, it adds “dozens of new weapons, hundreds of new spells, extensively revamped areas and maps, improved visuals, new enemies, bosses and much more.”

It’s basically a new Dark Souls game, and it even does things the base games don’t, like make Covenants actually impact gameplay instead of just being tools for online play.

You can play it for free now on PC, and I’d recommend doing so as the next big release from FromSoftware isn’t coming out anytime soon.

We don’t even know what the developer is working on at the moment, but Elden Ring 2 and that Bloodborne remaster are still at the top of everyone’s speculative lists.

Personally, I’m hoping Dark Souls gets a remake akin to Demon Souls, one that actually finishes some of the rushed in-game areas like Lost Izalith and makes others like Tomb Of The Giants less soul-destroying.
