CD Projekt RED is best known for delivering us gems like Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, but did you know that CDPR is also the mastermind behind GOG, a storefront packed full with deals and freebies?

Well, now you do. GOG is a great place to venture to if you’re a PC gamer and there’s no better time to do so than now because you can currently grab Mordheim: City of the Damned completely for free. Developed by Rogue Factor and published by Focus Home Interactive, Mordheim: City of the Damned launched back in 2015 on PC, with an Xbox and PlayStation version landing in 2016. This tactical RPG essentially functions as a video game adaptation of the classic tabletop game Mordheim from Games Workshop. You’ll be tasked with leading “warbands into bloody and lethal skirmishes”.

The Witcher 4 is on the way. We'd love to see Ciri take the reins.

Back when it launched, Mordheim: City of the Damned earned a respectable score of 74 over on Metacritic, placing it in that middle ground of ‘won’t change your life’ but can definitely lead to several hours of fun. Just under 60% of critics reviewed the game positively. God is a Geek gave a score of 85, writing, “A brilliant strategy game that asks you to think carefully about every decision, pushing your tactical buttons in every conceivable way.”

Hardcore Gamer were slightly more critical, adding, “It needs a little more technical polish and a much smoother learning curve to be considered for real mass-market appeal, but Mordheim: City of the Damned is a rewarding game for the right player.” But what do players think? On Steam, the game has a ‘Mostly Positive’ review score of 72%, with many praising the level of challenge it offers.

If that’s enough to tempt you into sampling Mordheim: City of the Damned, GOG’s giveaway of the game ends on 6 February so while you’ve got a fair bit of time to grab it, don’t be that person who forgets, only to remember when it’s too late.
