Bloodborne's surprise remaster has officially left our jaws on the floor

It's about time

Despite not being a Dark Souls player myself, even I have joined in on the calls for a Bloodborne remaster over recent years.

With PlayStation regularly announcing remasters and remakes for some of its biggest titles (we’re looking at you The Last of Us), it seems as though 2015’s Bloodborne has well and truly been left in the dust.

Check out the launch trailer for Bloodborne below!

Although the FromSoftware title is widely regarded as one of the best Soulslike games of all time, it seems as though Sony is dragging its feet when it comes to an official remaster.

As a result, a PC emulation has been in the works.

The ShadPS4 emulation aims to bring Bloodborne to PC for the first time and with resolution, frame-rate and feature enhancements, this is the closest we will get to an official remaster.

A video showing the emulation’s process so far was recently shared to Twitter and it is clear to see that the update has produced insane results.

Boasting 60FPS and playable from start to finish, Digital Foundry shared a 12-minute video of the PC emulation, looking into its set-up and diving into the mods used.

“Following a breakthrough in PS4 emulation via ShadPS4, Bloodborne is now fully playable from start to finish with 60 frames per second in view,” the description reads.

“Fan mods also allow the PC version to go the extra mile with new features: improved shadows, lighting, and even anti-aliasing - in theory showing us what an official remaster could end up looking like.”

It is clear to see how much of an improvement this project has made to Bloodborne and it is no wonder that fans are ready to get stuck in.

TheParkerLewis said, “It is unbelievable to me that Sony has spent years and hundreds of millions of dollars developing failed live-service games while at the same time leaving Bloodborne stuck in the past at 1080p 30fps.”

Whilst ThatsMySkill took the time to praise the emulator, saying, “I just finished my first full playthrough on the emulator.

Since I fell in love with Bloodborne almost 10 years ago, I wanted this game on PC and especially at 60fps.

Even though the developers probably won't read this, I really just want to say: thank you for making my dream come true. It’s been a treat and I will have countless more playthroughs of this game, finally in the way I always wanted to play it.”
