PlayStation has revealed the three new games hitting PlayStation Plus Essential in August 2026.

As is typical for each month, a new set of free games are hitting PlayStation Plus Essential next month.

These games are available for all subscribers to pick up at any tier, and will be available to claim throughout August.

The three new games available on PlayStation Plus for August 2026 are as follows.

Dying Light 2

"Humanity is fighting a losing battle against the virus. Experience a post-apocalyptic open world overrun by hordes of zombies, where your parkour and combat skills are key to survival. Traverse the City freely during the day, but watch the monsters take over during the night."

Big Walk

"Hang out and get lost with close friends in a big world. A cooperative online walker-talker from the creators of Untitled Goose Game."

Signalis

"A classic survival horror experience set in a dystopian future where humanity has uncovered a dark secret. Unravel a cosmic mystery, escape terrifying creatures, and scavenge an off-world government facility as Elster, a technician Replika searching for her lost dreams."

Signalis, Balor Games

Altogether, not a bad month. Dying Light 2 comes at the same time that the first game hits PlayStation Plus Extra. These are two open world zombie games that fans have consistently enjoyed since the first one came out in 2015, acting as spiritual successors to the Dead Island series.

On the other hand, Big Walk is a Day 1 release from the creators of Untitled Goose Game, which was a worldwide phenomenon when it released in 2019, while Signalis has been a popular indie horror that fans have praised consistently since it came out in 2022.

These games will be playable from August 4, 2026, and will be available to claim until August 31.

For PlayStation Plus Essential in particular, any games that hit the monthly titles section are available to redeem during the month they're active.

Once that month is over, the games are taken off and swapped for a new set of games, but the old titles are still available to play for all members which were able to redeem them on time, so long as they remain a PlayStation Plus subscriber.

The news comes following a proposed community blackout from members of the PlayStation community protesting Sony's decision to discontinue printing physical discs from January 2028.

"For several years now, Sony Interactive Entertainment has continued to grow further apart from its fan base," read a statement published by PlayStation fan Does It Play on X (formerly Twitter).

“Whether it's closing beloved studios like Bluepoint, pursuing a misguided live-service strategy, canceling fan events, leaving PSVR2 to die, or being completely out of touch with the franchises players want to see return, PlayStation has never felt more disconnected from its community.

“Ending physical discs in 2028 feels like the last straw. We understand there is only so much SIE can control, but with the decisions that are within its control, the company continues to mismanage the strong position it inherited from the PS4 era.”
