Bloodborne PC Remaster Trailer Leaves Gamers Floored

Bloodborne... but not as you know it

Over the years, Bloodborne has slowly built up its reputation, to the point that many now consider it the defining release of the generation and one of the best video games of all time.

FromSoftware's now inimitable style and approach to gameplay and experience has served them well in almost of their projects, but for many, Bloodborne outperforms Dark Souls and even Elden Ring in distilling exactly what the audience wants from a soulslike. So much so that soulsborne has replaced soulslike in the cultural canon for a lot of people (including myself).

The only drawback is that the original PlayStation 4 edition remains the only version of the game that's available to players. Though PC gamers have been calling for their own official version for years, the only way to get it going on desktop is via some technical wizardry, rather than simply buying it from a storefront.

If you are going to do it, legal limitations require you to pull a copy from an official game disc, but if you do, why stop there?

The Bloodborne PC Remaster Project is a mod that makes several major graphical tweaks to the game. It disables the notably poor anti-aliasing and enables dynamic shadow casting. It also allows increased ambient occlusion, better lighting from the game's fixed light sources, and significantly more frames.

The only drawback is that you will need a fairly powerful PC to get this all running at a frame rate that doesn't make your eyes bleed. Plus the borderline criminal difficulty of the game means every frame counts, so don't hold yourself back before you've even started.

Comments underneath a video showcasing the latest version of the mod were particularly complimentary, with one saying, "This is amazing. When I get my GPU back I'll definitely give it a go." Another added, "Talk about having a great eye for detail, I can't argue with any of your artistic choices!"

Hopefully we won't have to rely on unofficial methods to get the game on PC before long, with the calls for an official FromSoftware remaster seemingly just as loud as ever.
