Bloodborne has been unofficially released on PC with a native port that includes fully functional co-op and PvP modes. The modding community has worked wonders once again, bringing one of PlayStationâs most popular games to PC.
Developed by FromSoftware, Bloodborne was originally released on PS4 in March 2015. Sadly, that remains its one and only official release, with fans desperate for not only a PC port but also some form of PS5 upgrade, whether thatâs a performance update or a modern remaster.
Set in the cursed gothic city of Yharnam, you play as a Hunter tasked with investigating a mysterious plague that has turned its residents and animals into horrific monsters. Itâs also considered one of FromSoftwareâs best games, alongside Elden Ring and Dark Souls.
How is Bloodborne playable on PC, and is it better than the PS4 version?
The native PC port of Bloodborne created by the modding community not only offers better resolution and performance than the original PS4 release (and when played on PS5), but it also has a host of exclusive features and improvements that weren't available in the 2015 release. Here are some of its best features:
- Bloodborne runs on PC natively without needing a CPU interpreter or recompiler.
- It supports 60 frames per second and higher. The original PS4 version is capped at 30fps, even when being played on PS5.
- It features custom resolutions such as native 21:9 and 32:9 ultrawide.
- It has an adjustable Field of View.
- Features fully supported keyboard and mouse support with rebindable controls.
- It has a dedicated graphics menu giving players even more control over visuals and performance.
- It supports online co-op that allows players to summon each other through The Hunterâs Dream private server, and this works for PvP, instead of Sonyâs PSN infrastructure.
- It also helps the online community feel more connected by recreating Bloodborneâs original messaging, bloodstains, ghosts and Chalice Dungeons experiences. Itâs worth noting that co-op and PvP are client-specific. Meaning, bbhost players play against other bbhost players, and the same rule applies to shadPS4 users.
- Itâs mod-friendly.
- It works on the Steam Deck.

Is it legal to play Bloodborne on PC?
Emulation is a legal and moral grey area. In simple terms, there can be a legal argument for emulation if you own a legitimate copy of the game, but the situation is more complicated than that.
Advert
In Sony PlayStationâs case, its terms explicitly prohibit the emulation and modification of its software. This means that even if a project doesnât distribute the copyrighted game itself or use its original assets, that doesnât necessarily mean using it is legally permitted.
Bloodborne is available to play legally on PlayStation 4, but itâs also backwards compatible on PlayStation 5. Hopefully, FromSoftware and Sony Interactive Entertainment will one day release Bloodborne 2, but you shouldn't hold your breath.
