Grand Theft Auto VI is the game everyone’s excited for this year, but even Rockstar’s next masterpiece isn’t beyond criticism.
The next Grand Theft Auto game dropped its launch trailer earlier today and gave us a closer look at its new protagonists Jason and Lucia, though not as close as Cyberleeks’ nude gameplay showcase…
As exciting as the new game is, some fans are still salty about its disappointing collector’s edition, which has joined a number of other AAA titles by not including a physical copy. It’s now being shown up by an indie game of all things.
The co-op climbing game Peak became one of Steam’s best-rated games last year and is currently sitting pretty with a 95% Positive rating on the platform.

Now after a long wait the game is finally coming to the PlayStation 5, and even had a collector’s edition that’s outshining both GTA VI and God of War: Laufey.
The collector’s edition contains a passport kit, a physical copy of the game and a ‘buddy pass’. This is like the Friends Pass you can get for games like Split Fiction and Orbitals, but it’s even better because it acts as a full, second copy of the game. Meaning both players can play separately if they wish.
Even better is the since-deleted listing for the collector’s edition on VGP priced the game at $21.09, which is a bargain if that’s the actual price.
In any case it’s a better deal than what other companies are offering. GTA VI’s Goodtime State – Vice City Collection costs $400 and features just about anything but the actual game. Seriously you get a crocodile figurine, a hat, a bag, sunglasses etc, but not even the digital download code.

Even God of War: Laufey is guilty of a dodgy collector’s edition. It was revealed earlier this week and features a statue of Faye (which lights up), Oracle cards and an art book. Be warned though, it also comes with a spoiler for the game!
Like GTA VI’s bumper box it also features no physical copy or download code, though to be fair that’s to be expected of PlayStation from now. Sony is phasing out discs entirely in the next couple of years, remember?
Two of the hottest AAAs yet to release and neither of them offer a copy of the game, whereas an indie title made by a small studio offers two copies.
It’d be funny if it wasn't so disappointing. Collector’s Editions are so rarely worth the money these days and that’s largely because they lack the entire reason you’d want to buy one to begin with; the game.
The PS5 version of Peak will launch on October 22. It's also coming to Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2 with crossplay included.
