PEAK to launch free final update as 95% rated indie hit reaffirms PS5 and Xbox ports

Steam indie sensation PEAK has dropped to just $4 ahead of its highly anticipated final free content update tomorrow.

If you ever want to check out the best indie hits, Steam should be your go-to. It has everything from well-supported projects with somewhat high production costs to some games developed by just one person that suddenly take the video game community by storm. This always goes to show that you don’t need a huge budget in the hundreds of millions to be a success.

One indie game in particular, the aforementioned PEAK, developed by Team PEAK, was released on Steam in June 2025. In a nutshell, if you’re a fan of Human: Fall Flat and the latest new indie hit Big Walk, then PEAK might just be your cup of tea.

PEAK gets a big price drop ahead of its last content update

The final and free content update is called ‘The Final Ascent’, and it adds two new variant biomes, The Citadel and Gloom. The Citadel is inspired by medieval times, while Gloom is a spooky swamp. The free update will also bring new enemies, hazards, story beats, adding new context to the new PEAK maps and more.

PEAK ‘The Final Ascent’ will arrive tomorrow, Tuesday August 11, 2026, for all those who own the game on Steam. Furthermore, to celebrate the final and free content update, PEAK has been discounted by 50%, bringing the price down from £6.19/$7.99 to just £3.19/$3.99. The offer ends on August 18, 2026.

What is PEAK about?

“PEAK is a co-op climbing game where the slightest mistake can spell your doom,” reads the synopsis of the game. “Either solo or as a group of lost nature scouts, your only hope of rescue from a mysterious island is to scale the mountain at its centre. Do you have what it takes to reach the PEAK?”

Is PEAK available on consoles?

At the moment, no, but there is some good news. During a Q&A video, responding to fan requests regarding a console release, the developers said, “We're working on it. Porting games, let alone a game jam, takes a while to do. We want to, don't worry. We're really excited for when we can."

As for the console platforms PEAK could come to, Team PEAK are considering porting the game to PlayStation 5, Xbox and Nintendo Switch 2. However, given that no further details have been revealed, there is no announced release date yet.

The team has said the long-awaited ports will become its focus though after PEAK's next update.

How well received is PEAK?

On Steam, it’s rated as “Overwhelmingly Positive” from over 135,000 user reviews, and has an average positive success rate of around 95%.
