The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is reportedly getting a remake for the Nintendo Switch 2, but is yet to be officially confirmed by Nintendo.
It’d make a lot of sense given the series recently celebrated its 40th anniversary but until publicly acknowledges it, it doesn’t exist.
While you wait for the rumours to be confirmed or dismissed you might be tempted to load up Ocarina of Time on your Nintendo Switch via Nintendo Switch Online or better yet dig out your Nintendo 64 and play the real deal.
Don’t be too hasty though as while it’s not official an Ocarina of Time remake does exist and is playable for free on PC right now.
The decompilation PC port Ship Of Harkinian is the most content-complete reimagining Zelda fans will have ever seen.
Advert
It combines elements from both the original Ocarina of Time as well as the Nintendo 3DS remake which updated the textures and in-game models.
Together they form the perfect blend for someone wanting to experience this classic with a modern look whilst having that nostalgic feel to it, which is exactly what a remake should be in my opinion.

Featuring wide-screen support and a boosted framerate this should run just fine on your PC, and there are plenty of controller options too.
It even supports gyro-aiming so some of those shooting range minigames won’t be such a pain this time around.
Aside from the obvious improvements though one area this decompilation really excels in is bonus content.
The game can be rigged with an assortment of cheats and modifiers to keep each playthrough interesting, and if you want to go even further you need to try out the Randomizer.
You’ll have no doubt seen this on YouTube or Twitch but if you somehow haven’t it does exactly what it says on the tin.
How far you push it is up to you but most players simply randomise the items you find in chests, meaning you could find the Hookshot in Kokiri Forest and a Deku Shield in Ganon’s Castle. It adds a new depth of challenge to your game.
All in all it’s an incredible PC port and one you can enjoy for free, though you will of course need a ROM of the game to get it working.
It’s illegal to download ROMs online so you’ll have to be a bit tech-savvy and rip the ROM from your own copy of the game to use with this PC port.
