The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has a free sequel you can play on PC right now before the remake.
Nintendo is yet to confirm its existence but it’s said Ocarina of Time is getting a remake for the Nintendo Switch 2, and the company is reportedly furious that it leaked ahead of an official announcement.
It all adds up though The Legend of Zelda series is currently celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, with a live-action film on the way, LEGO sets and more. Why wouldn’t Nintendo mark the occasion further with a remake of its best game?
While you wait though, what if we told you that you can play a sequel to Ocarina of Time set years after Ganon’s defeat that’s not The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask? Keep reading PC owners…
Ocarina of Time: Indigo Chapter 2 is a fan-made PC mod that tells the next story for the Hero of Time.

Created by Hylian Modding, it’s set a whopping 27 years after the events of Majora’s Mask featuring new enemies, bosses, items and more.
Hylian Modding says it’s meant to be “a full game replacement” on the official site and it’s progressing quite nicely.

At the time of writing, the full project is incomplete but you can play Chapter 2 for free right now.
To do this you’ll need a ROM of Ocarina of Time which you can rip from your own bought Nintendo 64 cartridge. Remember that it’s illegal to download ROMs online so don’t be a pirate, or you just may suffer Nintendo’s wrath.
Chapter 1 of Indigo can also be played but the creators warn “it's not as polished or fleshed out as Chapter 2, but there's still some unique content there for those interested!”
Those who’ve played the fan-creation have given it high praise, like shadowzelda99 on X who said: “Recently started playing a rom-hack called Zelda Indigo: Chapter 2! It's been a lot of fun so far and has some really clever puzzles and interesting ideas!”
For Legend of Zelda fans on PC looking to experience a new adventure, Indigo sounds like a freebie for you provided you can play it without piracy.
