Zelda fans stunned by new Nintendo Switch hardware

Which is probably why Nintendo feels comfortable charging more for this one than usual...

A new Zelda-themed Nintendo Switch is coming out at the end of the month, with reactions ranging between “ooh, shiny” and general negativity.

The Nintendo Switch Lite “Hyrule Edition” was revealed back in June this year and will officially release on September 26th this month, on the same day as The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom.

Personally, I think it’s super pretty but it’s understandable that a few folks aren’t onboard with buying Nintendo Switch Lite this late in the console’s lifespan; especially with a Nintendo Switch 2 announcement looming in the near future.

"I would get an OLED Switch if you can swing the extra cash" commented user VancelX.

"I’ve had all three versions (OG, Lite, and OLED), and while the Lite is more portable, it isn’t by much. The OLED is by far the best handheld playing option, the screen really is that good. And you also have the option of using it with a TV."

"tbh after 5 minutes of googling i think i'm just gonna wait for the switch 2" replied McManus26, "If i'm not mistaken buying a switch now means it will be outdated in like 6 months"

Over on the Nintendo Switch subreddit, comments were noticeably more positive, shockingly.

"Must... resist... stated I already have a TotK OLED, I don't have any use for a Switch Lite!" stated AdditionalMeeting467.

User kgbkgb1967 was even more positive, commenting "If they make enough of these Nintendo Switch will surpass PS2 as the number one system of all time."

"Probably why they made it lol" replied DueSeesaw6053, "Sell a few million of these to augment the general sales figures"

That last comment probably isn’t too far off the mark, especially considering that the Hyrule Edition of the Nintendo Switch Lite goes for an extra £10 when compared to all other Lite models on their own storefront.

This one is just for the hardcore Zelda fans who are desperate to get their hands on anything Zelda-themed and will likely sell like hotcakes, regardless of what the general internet thinks of it.
