Nintendo has released a new Super Mario Galaxy freebie, but you only have a limited time to enjoy it.
As part of the Super Mario 40th anniversary celebrations, Nintendo has been treating fans to many new releases and special promotions over the last 12 months.
In particular, a lot of attention has been paid to Super Mario Galaxy, which saw both a movie tie-in and a remastered collection released in recent months.
In case you’ve still got the Mario fever, Nintendo has now uploaded the soundtracks to both Super Mario Galaxy games onto music platform Spotify, along with a selection of tracks from the movies as well.

Why is this significant? Well, Nintendo has never uploaded its music to Spotify before. In fact, unless you’re willing to fork out for a Nintendo Switch Online subscription to get Nintendo Music, your best bet for listening to music from the games is to buy a CD or digital release.
However, now users with a free or premium subscription to Spotify can now listen to a range of Super Mario Galaxy tracks, all collected neatly into one playlist.
In total, there are 130 tracks in the playlist, with 71 comprising the first Super Mario Galaxy game, and 59 for the second game.
There’s a catch though—the tracks are only available for “a limited time” as part of the franchise’s 40th anniversary. What’s more awkward is that neither Nintendo nor Spotify have confirmed when the tracks will be removed from the service.
Spotify Premium users on the mobile app can also see a Luma hovering above the playback bar, which shows you how long is left before the next track.

Considering this release is almost certainly due to it being related to The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and remasters of the original two games, I wouldn’t hold out hopes for games like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time or Super Mario World to get Spotify releases.
However, this could always be a trial run from Nintendo to see how well the reception to the Spotify releases are. At the moment, the playlist has almost 70,000 listeners, so it’s worked out pretty well.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie released earlier this month and has been a hit success for Nintendo and Universal Pictures.
Starring Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key, Benny Safdie, Donald Glover, and Brie Larson, the film has earned $832 million on a $110 million budget, quickly becoming 2026’s highest-grossing film of the year so far.
According to Bowser actor Jack Black, a sequel has been greenlit to be released in 2029.
A Donkey Kong spin-off is also rumoured to be in development, following a new trademark from Nintendo and Universal Pictures. It would presumably star Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, whom he played in the 2023 film.
