Ranking The Legend of Zelda Link incarnations based on how they'd eat a KitKat

The Hero of Hyrule has taken many forms throughout the various Legend of Zelda games, and I think each one would eat a KitKat differently.

The Legend of Zelda series has spanned so many different games, set during bespoke and unique times in Hyrule’s history.

Branching timelines allow for a varied mix of stories to be told, but a few things are always the same. There’s always a Ganon hell-bent on destruction, there’s always a Zelda ready to inspire, and there’s always a Link to save the day.

Something I’ve almost admired about Nintendo’s silent protagonist is that while every incarnation looks roughly the same, they always have a different vibe to them. I don’t know whether it’s been the UK heat or just my choice in snacks recently, but I’ve been inspired to list each (canon) incarnation based on how much they'd munch a KitKat.

The Legend of Zelda (1986) and Zelda II: The Adventure of Link

Off to a reasonable start. The Hero of Hyrule didn’t have much in the way of personality since he’s mostly just a 2D sprite, but based on artwork, I’d imagine he eats his KitKats pretty normally.

The four-finger variety breaks a finger off one at a time and enjoys it. Probably shares too.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past/Link’s Awakening

Only good vibes and good memories from this Link. He’d mostly eat the two-fingered bars, I reckon, and he’d do so very politely.

Link from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time/Majora’s Mask

If we’re talking about Young Link, I’d imagine he’d take a four-fingered KitKat and bite into it like any other chocolate bar. Fiendish behaviour.

Adult Link would probably go for the two-fingered variety and consume it like a normal person. He seems reasonable like that.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker/Phantom Hourglass

KitKat Chunky consumes the whole thing in one go in cartoonish-fashion. Immediately ready for another one.

The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventure

Four-fingered KitKats for all four versions of Link, all of which are different flavours. I’m picturing them all sitting in a circle politely sharing. Adorable stuff.

The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap

This Link would take full advantage of his ‘Minish’ form and grab a full KitKat Chunky before shrinking himself down. Then he’d tuck into one of the most proportionally large KitKats ever consumed.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

Human form Link would snack on a two-fingered KitKat with no mess or fuss. Simple and respectable.

Wolf Link wouldn’t be able to eat one because dogs aren’t supposed to have chocolate. Sorry buddy.

The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks

I’m on the fence about this one, as my memory of Spirit Tracks is hazy at best, so I’ll play it safe and direct you back to Wind Waker Link’s answer

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

Another four-fingered KitKat, and he’d absolutely split it down the middle and share it with his Zelda. They’re sweethearts after all.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Tri-Force Heroes

He’d have a stash of KitKats merged with the wall of his house. All different varieties.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom

Easy answer. He takes a full four-fingered KitKat and just shoves the whole thing in his mouth. I won’t accept any other take on this.
