PC players on the lookout for games to play this Halloween should look no further, as this PS1-inspired horror is currently 50% off.
The first PlayStation console was the unofficial home of horror games, with titles like Resident Evil, Silent Hill and Parasite Eve making up its library of exclusives.
While graphics have come a long way since the PS1 days, there’s still something inherently charming about the way they used to look, and plenty of games since have tried to emulate that style.
Crow Country is a must-play for Resident Evil fans this Halloween, especially with such a hefty discount
Launching back in 2024, Crow Country is a unique indie horror game that feels like a spiritual mash-up of Silent Hill and Resident Evil.
Its synopsis reads: “The year is 1990. It’s been two years since the mysterious disappearance of Edward Crow and the abrupt closure of his theme park, Crow Country. But your arrival has broken the silence, Mara Forest. If you want answers, you’ll have to venture deep into the darkness of Crow Country to find them…”

The survival-horror throws several perils and puzzles your way, forcing you to carefully manage your supplies to make it through Crow Country alive.

It’s available on PC via Steam, but also got ported to the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch/Switch 2.
While a free demo is available on Steam, the full game is now 50% off for a limited time, driving the price down from $19.99 to $9.99.
That’s an excellent deal, especially with Halloween right around the corner too. Those still on the fence are more than welcome to try out the demo first, however.
Crow Country is also currently discounted on the PlayStation Store for the same price, though the offer isn’t available on Xbox at the time of writing.
I’ve played Crow Country myself, and it’s ideal for retro game enthusiasts
At GAMINGbible I’ve written at length about my love for retro games, so when I first saw Crow Country I didn’t need any further encouragement.I played the game on Steam Deck, and it ran perfectly. It is verified after all.
The game excels at emulating the old-school horror vibe. Its visuals do a lot of the heavy lifting, and yet the sound design elevates it to the next level.
It’s just got that eerie vibe to it. No jump scares are needed in a game like this, as the atmosphere does all of the spooking for it.
I also appreciated how it still felt a little bit modern, because as much as I love the first three Resident Evil games, revisiting them nowadays can feel a little bit clunky.
Despite owning Crow Country on Steam, I’m debating picking it up for the PlayStation 5 for a new playthrough, and I’d more than encourage you to do the same.
Again, there’s a free demo available on Steam and this can also be played on your Steam Deck, so if you’re still unsure, give that a go first.
