The worst Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive to date

It hasn’t taken long; Code Violet has been dethroned as the year’s biggest game flop.

Code Violet arrived with very little fanfare. The “action horror third-person shooter” developed by TeamKill Media was licensed as a PlayStation 5 exclusive when it launched last month on 10 January.

As you can likely guess from the above quote, the game didn’t exactly settle on what it wanted to be, resulting in a half-baked underwhelming experience that just failed to make an impact.

Set in the 25th century, Code Violet follows time traveller Violet Sinclair who awakens in the Aion Bioengineering Complex after a cataclysm has left Earth uninhabitable.

Unfortunately for Violet, the complex is teeming with prehistoric dinosaurs and hostile enemies.

On OpenCritic, the game scored a measly 40, with only 17% of critics recommending the title.

From One Dinosaur Game To Another

Well, a rival title has now swooped in with an even worse score and weirdly, it’s also a game about dinosaurs.

Tokyo Scramble is, as its name ironically implies, a mess.

As reported by The Gamer, the game debuted on OpenCritic with a score of just 37, sitting very slightly higher at 40 on Metacritic.

GameRant awarded a score of just 30, writing, “Tokyo Scramble is weird enough that it is sometimes entertaining, and it's technically playable from beginning to end, but there's so little enjoyment to be had that I don't recommend it.”

They continued, “It's the worst Switch 2 exclusive to date, and with a lineup that includes games like the boring Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour and the wildly overpriced Survival Kids, that's saying something.”

Siliconera awarded the same low score, adding, “Tokyo Scramble is a mess of a game, and it’s not even a situation where it is so bad that some element of it is in some way enjoyable. The story is bad. The script is terrible.”

If for whatever twisted reason you are curious to check it out, Tokyo Scramble is a survival puzzle action game that’s launched on Nintendo Switch 2.

“When Anne awakens after an accident, she finds herself in a network of subterranean caverns overrun by Zino—mysterious creatures that resemble dinosaurs,” the synopsis begins.

“Left stranded in this hostile environment where only the strong survive, Anne's only hope is to find a way back to the surface.

“As her journey continues, Anne comes face-to-face with a diverse and deadly array of Zino.

“With her sights set on the light filtering in from above, Anne must rely on her wits to flee, distract, and fight back however she can. But does she have what it takes to escape this prehistoric world alive?”

While there are stealth segments, players will engage in plenty of combat, plus there’s a strategy element as you try to trap and outwit your foes.

The game featured during the most recent Nintendo Partner Direct but sadly, it seems dead on arrival.
