Pokémon Wind And Waves is the next AAA instalment of the Pokémon franchise, but its AAA price point is definitely going to divide gamers
The next Pokémon game will sport a more tropical feel as players explore a new region made up of several islands.
Open-world exploration will take place on these islands, but you’ll also surf the seas surrounding them, even diving below the waves to see what Pokémon lurk beneath.
It’s due to launch next year and thanks to a leaked pre-order listing in Germany, we now have an idea of how much it’ll cost.
The German Amazon site is listing Pokémon Wind And Waves as an €80 game, rounding up, which suggests it’ll be priced at $80 in the United States.

This is for the physical version of the game only as the digital version will be available at a discount.
Recently, Nintendo introduced some changes to the price of its AAA games. Starting with Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, new Nintendo Switch 2 games will share the same price in Europe and the United States.
Take Pokémon Wind And Waves’ price with a pinch of salt though, as there’s every chance it’s just a placeholder. Amazon sometimes lists games at an approximate price, but will charge the lowest price possible with its Pre-Order Guarantee.

It’s more than possible that the real price of the game will be more like €70/$70, like some of the other Nintendo Switch 2 games.
Perhaps that’s just wishful thinking though. This is Pokémon after all. It’s one of the biggest video game franchises on the planet and this upcoming entry will be the most technologically advanced yet, as it will be developed exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2.
Both The Pokémon Company and Nintendo know what it’s worth, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see gamers charged silly prices.
While it’s to be expected, we’re obviously not happy about it. It adds insult to injury when you consider Pokémon games work best when you have access to both copies of the game. Whether you split the two between yourself and your partner or simply buy both versions for trading, it’s going to cost a lot of money either way.
Hopefully it’s worth it, though what we’ve seen so far does look promising. It’s a massive leap forward in terms of visuals and admittedly, the deep-sea/island exploration sounds exciting.
Whether it’s worth the price Nintendo is allegedly asking though, remains to be seen. Though if you plan on buying a Nintendo Switch 2 just to play the new Pokémon game, you might want to grab one as soon as possible, as a price-hike is on the way.
