The Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Cons are hiding a secret feature that’s very helpful and could end up saving you a small fortune.
Released in June 2025, the Switch 2 is well on track to become one of Nintendo’s most successful and popular consoles ever. Which is saying something, when you consider this is the company that’s given us the NES, SNES, Game Boy, N64, Wii and much more. Sorry, Wii U and Virtual Boy, you can jog on!
However, the continued success of the Nintendo Switch 2 might take some by surprise with the current modern-console price hikes. In my life, I’ve never known consoles to get more expensive across the board as more days pass. Typically, consoles drop in price, not the other way around. But that’s a rant for another time.
Speaking of cost, the new Joy-Cons for the Nintendo Switch 2 are not cheap, with an RRP of £74.99/$99.99 for the left and right controllers together. So if you were to lose any, it’s an extra expense you could do without.
You’re screwed! Not really, well, hopefully not.

If you were to somehow lose your Joy-Con 2, there is a trick that should help you relocate it and, in turn, should prevent you from having to buy a new one. Unless it’s been eaten by your dog, in which case, it can get very messy, and it might be best to cough up the cash.

From the Nintendo Switch 2’s Home Menu, select the Controllers icon, and then select ‘Search for Controllers’
Now, choose which Joy-Con 2 has gone on its own side-quest, then the AWOL accessory will start making a bleeping noise and will vibrate. Hopefully, it’s just wedged down the back of the sofa or some other nearby location (but not the dog). This also works with the original Nintendo Switch console.
One of the most recent first-party Nintendo Switch 2 exclusives is Pokémon Pokopia, which is heavily inspired by the Animal Crossing series.
“There’s no one reason why Pokémon Pokopia is so special; this game is a sum of its parts, without a single weak link in the chain. It’s a title that offers a unique spin on the cosy formula, made all the more magical by the familiarity of this wonderful franchise,” said GAMINGbible’s Kate, in her review.
“Pokémon Pokopia is a true adventure that boasts a refreshing sense of freedom. Totally devoid of grind, this experience rewards the curious with heaps of content on offer. You’ll be hard-pressed to put it down, and it's certainly a title that we’ll all be discussing when this year’s GOTY discussion rolls around.”
