This Nintendo Switch 2 feature will keep your console healthy for longer, and is somewhat of a lifesaver, it has to be said.
As great as modern technology is right now, it’s not without its flaws, especially when it comes to tech on the go. Something that I’m sure most mobile phone owners will be very familiar with is a vastly depleting battery life.
Thankfully, with mobile phones, while the battery won’t last longer in the immediate future, setting a full charge to stop at 80%, it can prolong the battery’s life, meaning that it should last much longer for the years ahead. You can also do the same for the Nintendo Switch 2, as well as the OG console.
All you have to do is from the Home Menu, go to ‘System Settings’, then ‘System’ and from here, select ‘Stop Charging Around 90%’. Like mobile phones, it will mean that gaming on that day might be a little less before your console needs a recharge, but it will most certainly be beneficial for the long haul.
You could try turning on the ‘Dark Theme’ on your Nintendo Switch console, which helps to save a bit of power, especially when you're browsing the Home Screen and whatnot.
You can turn down the brightness of the overall screen. Disable wi-fi and Bluetooth if you’re not playing online or using any other additional accessories. If you’re not too fussed about rumble features, disabling them will benefit the battery life of your Joy-Cons.

Finally, arguably the most important way to save battery life on any of the Nintendo Switch consoles is powering off the system properly, rather than leaving it in sleep mode. Sure, booting up the console might take a few seconds longer, but at least the battery won't drain when you’re not using it. These options are available on both gen consoles.
As I’m sure you’re well aware, it’s always incredibly frustrating when you’re in the middle of a game like Pokémon Legends: Z-A. You’re done with your gaming session, and leave the console to sleep mode, only to return to find the battery is dead and your progress has been lost.
Speaking of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, we reviewed the latest mainline entry in the series, scoring it an “Excellent” 8/10.
“When all is said and done, I think Pokémon Legends: Z-A is a fantastic Pokémon game,” said GAMINGbible’s Sam in his review.
“The new battle mechanics are a stellar addition to the formula, and it was great to see Mega Evolutions return in such bombastic fashion. It feels like the continuation Pokémon X & Y needed but never got, as it’s always felt like those games never truly got the love, respect and time they deserved.”
