Nintendo Switch users have 24 hours left to nab these Mario freebies

Super Mario fans, if you want to claim some Nintendo Switch freebies, then you only have 24 hours to make these yours.

While it’s always a delight securing free video games regardless of whether we play on PC, PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo, sometimes it’s nice to claim free content too that just showcases our appreciation for a series.

If you’re a Nintendo Switch gamer with a love for Super Mario, then these freebies might just be for you but you need to claim them ASAP to avoid the feeling of disappointment by missing out.

As brought to our attention by the fantastic Twitter account NSO Icons Alerts (give that page a follow), you can claim a batch of Super Mario icons and borders ranging from five to 10 Platinum Coins each.

These icons are not always inspired by Super Mario, but sometimes other leading Nintendo franchises such as The Legend of Zelda, Animal Crossing, Splatoon, Pikmin, and much more, so it’s worth keeping tabs on the latest batch available.

These icons are used on your Nintendo Switch profile and are different to the standard ones that are accessible via the console. These are exclusive and only available for a limited time.

Platinum Coins is Nintendo’s free currency that you can earn by completing easy tasks such as filling out a short questionnaire or providing brief feedback on a newly purchased game.

You can access the free icons via the Nintendo Switch home screen by going to ‘Nintendo Switch Online’ and then select the ‘Missions & Rewards’ section. Depending on which icons you choose, they will cost five or 10 of the free Platinum coins.

These Super Mario-inspired icons will only be available until 19 May 2025 before the next batch of goodies arrives on rotation.

These icons should carry over to the Nintendo Switch 2, so you shouldn't need to worry if you plan on picking up the upcoming console on 5 June 2025.
