Nintendo Switch users can now pick up a fresh selection of new Super Mario free downloads.
It’s a new week, and that means a new bunch of freebies added to Nintendo Switch Online.
Nintendo regularly likes to hand out free content as part of Nintendo Switch Online subscriptions, as a way of celebrating new and old releases along with its players.
The latest batch of Mario freebies comes in the form of new icons users can get as part of their Nintendo Switch Online profiles.

As spotted by NSO Icon Alerts on X (formerly Twitter), the latest batch of icons are themed all around Super Mario, continuing Nintendo’s trend of celebrating the mascot’s 40th year in style.
These icons feature various characters and locations from across different Super Mario franchises, including Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Super Mario Odyssey.

This includes icons of Mario fist-bumping the air, a Koopa Troopa chasing after its shell, and Yoshi drifting on a circuit. It also features one of Mario in his elephant form, an image that I still find deeply cursed years later.
In addition to this, you can also find an assortment of backgrounds and frames available with this new wave of icons. Altogether, it's a big batch of new icons, and one that Mario fans will probably want to at least check out.
Meanwhile, Nintendo is also releasing new icons themed around Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, which came out a few weeks back. This selection of icons will change on Thursday each week, rotating weekly until 17 June.
In order to claim these icons, you need to first boot up your Switch or Switch 2 and head to the Nintendo Switch Online app on the home screen.
From here, find ‘Missions & Rewards’, which contains all of the new icons added as part of this new wave.
To redeem them, you’ll need to have enough Platinum Points, which can be earned in a variety of ways across your Nintendo games and your online membership. Icons usually cost around 10 Platinum Points to claim, while backgrounds and frames cost 5 Platinum Points.
As for what’s coming up, all Nintendo, the publisher is releasing Star Fox on 25 June, 2026, and Splatoon Raiders on 23 July, 2026. It also has Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave scheduled for sometime in late 2026, and Pokémon Winds and Waves in 2027.
