Nintendo has just dropped a bunch of new freebies to celebrate the release of Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is Nintendo’s latest release for the Switch 2 after what has already been a rather stellar year, and the first game in the Mario spin-off series since 2019.
To celebrate the new release, Nintendo Switch Online users can pick up a new set of freebies for their Switch 2 console.
This comes in the form of new Nintendo Switch Online icons themed around the game, which Yoshi and the Mysterious Book players can now pick up for the next week.

The wave includes a series of different icons, backgrounds, and frames to use on your Nintendo Switch Online profile. Let’s dive into what’s included.
As spotted by NSO Icon Alerts, there are 13 icons available in this batch, each one featuring different characters from the game.
Yoshi is included here, but you can also get your grubby hands on icons featuring other characters like Mister Encyclopedia, Crazee Dayzee, and Glubbit.
In addition to this, you’ll also be able to pick up some backgrounds and frames which are inspired by Yoshi and the Mysterious Book. Six backgrounds and four frames are currently available.
Meanwhile, Nintendo has announced that more Yoshi and the Mysterious Book free icons will drop over the next few weeks, with each wave rotating weekly until 17 June.
The next wave begins on 27 May, and while we don’t know the full list of icons that’ll be included in this wave, Nintendo has teased that it’ll feature new images for Yoshi and Crazee Dayzee.
If you’d like to pick up these free Nintendo Switch 2 icons, boot up your Nintendo Switch 2 and head to the Nintendo Switch Online app on the home screen.
From here, find ‘Missions & Rewards’ to start redeeming the icons. The icons themselves cost 10 Platinum Points each, which you can get from completing various missions across your Nintendo Switch Online subscription. Backgrounds and frames cost 5 Platinum Points each in comparison.
Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is out today on Nintendo Switch 2. It’s the ninth main installment in the series, following 2019’s Yoshi’s Crafted World.
In GAMINGbible’s own review of the game, our Sam called it “fun, whimsical, colourful”, adding that “whatever it lacks in story or challenge is made up with clever gameplay mechanics disguised as weird and wonderful creatures.”
The release of Yoshi and the Mysterious Book follows a bumper first half of the year for Nintendo to fill out the end of the first year for the Switch 2. We’ve also seen the launches of Mario Tennis Fever, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, Pokémon Pokopia, as well as the release of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and the Switch 2 version of Super Mario Bros Wonder.
