Nintendo Switch 2 pricing leaves fans divided, and we can see why

It's hard to know what to believe, Nintendo help us

All eyes are going to be on Nintendo today.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll know that it’s rumoured that tomorrow - Thursday 16 January - will see Nintendo finally host a showcase unveiling the Nintendo Switch’s successor.

This tidbit of information was first brought to light by leaker NateTheHate and while I’d typically urge you to take such leaks with a pinch of salt, this has since been corroborated by a number of sources including VGC.

It’s understood that the showcase will focus exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2 as a piece of hardware with a separate showcase planned to debut the console’s launch titles.

If there really is a showcase to be held tomorrow, it would surely be announced today, hence why I’m imagining a close eye is going to be kept on Nintendo’s social media accounts.

In the meantime, yet another nugget of information has surfaced. This one concerns the console’s supposed pre-order price.

Pokémon Legends Z-A is one title that’ll definitely be launching on Nintendo Switch Systems this year.

Over on the Nintendo Switch 2 Discord server, user DoNotDisturb shared intel from an individual who’s supposedly an employee of French retailer Micromania.

This person claims that the Nintendo Switch 2 will cost €399, with the price of Nintendo Switch Online also reportedly set to increase, although to what they did not state.

The employee further added that they received “a list of 25 provisional games, with prices ranging from €69 to €79”.

There’s not as much weight to this claim as NateTheHate’s so I’d once again urge you to bring back that generous pinch of salt.

Even still, that pre-order price doesn’t seem out of the realm of possibility. For added context, €399 roughly equates to £337 or $411.

With that in mind, perhaps there is some truth behind this latest whisper, but many remain dubious.

“DoNotDisturb isn't just some user, he's basically the co-owner of the server. So his word should be taken more strongly than normal users,” wrote Reddit user EagerGavin7.

“I'll believe it. The NSO price detail makes it seem more credible,” added ContributionMain2722.

“PLEASE DON'T TELL ME ANYONE HERE BELIEVES THIS,” added a far more skeptical LuigiDudeGaming.

Nintendo could potentially put us out of our misery in one day’s time, so let’s just hope that happens.
