Nintendo fans, the time might finally be here. We’ve got a pretty solid rumour that the Switch 2 is going to be unveiled this week.

According to several sources, Nintendo is due to debut the follow-up to the Nintendo Switch on Thursday, 16 January.

It has been many years since the Switch debuted, are we on the brink of finding out about the follow-up?

There has been no announcement from the Japanese company, as yet, but several industry insiders are reporting that we’ll soon get word of a Nintendo Direct that will focus on the console.

Reliable insider Nate the Hate said, “I can share with you that Nintendo Switch 2 will be revealed in the coming week… I have been told Switch 2 will be revealed on Thursday, January 16… just a few days from now.”

The reveal is supposed to show only the console, with a future Direct to showcase the launch titles and upcoming games for the hardware.

This rumour also matches what VGC was previously told about the Switch 2 reveal, seemingly solidifying the news.

The Switch 2 is hotly anticipated by millions of players who all are eager to see what Nintendo has been cooking over the past few years.

The console is rumoured to be an upgraded version of the previous hardware, with AI upscaling to bring a new visual fidelity to the hybrid system.

It’s assumed that the console will release in May or June 2025 with a Mario Kart title as part of the launch line-up.

Of course, this is still a rumour, but it’s the most solid one we’ve had to go on for some time.

Now, all eyes are on Nintendo, who usually announce their Direct showcases 24 to 48 hours before they’re set to air.

As soon as we get word from Nintendo, we’ll be sure to update you with all the details, and we’ll be watching along eagerly to hear more about the future of the brand.
