With each new Nintendo Direct that arrives, gamers hope this will be the digital event when the Switch successor is finally revealed.

However, so far, while only confirming that the Nintendo Switch 2 (if that is its real name) is in production, gamers are left continually hanging for new information. Well, information that is official and not mass leaked such as the recent and unfortunate events involving Pokémon developer, Game Freak.

The Japanese tech giant has the habit of making big announcements when we least expect it, such as the new Alarmo clock.

In our review of the Nintendo Alarmo, we said: “While the Nintendo Alarmo is a very weird, very random product, it’s very much a Nintendo product, and for that reason it carries a lot of charm.”

The chances are that when the Nintendo Switch 2 is announced, it will probably happen on a random Wednesday or Thursday afternoon at 16:30 with no build-up whatsoever.

With the pending Nintendo Switch 2 announcement in mind, gamers on Reddit have recalled when Nintendo made it as clear as possible that the new console won't be announced during a certain Direct event. Those attempts proved to be futile.

“Y’all remember when we were excited about this?” said Redditor No_Reaction4269, referring to a tweet from Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa on 6 May 2024.

“We will be holding a Nintendo Direct this June regarding the Nintendo Switch software lineup for the latter half of 2024,” part of the statement read. “But please be aware that there will be no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during that presentation.

“I won't lie. Part of my excitement for this statement was because I thought we would get a reveal during late 2024 since it felt a little pointless to mention the Switch 2's existence at all this year if they weren't going to talk about it,” x17th replied.

“If they knew it wouldn’t be announced this calendar year then they should have waited a bit longer to say this,” agreed quincy12393.

However, some of the Reddit members pointed out that this fiscal year doesn't end until March 2025, so maybe, just maybe, there might be a chance that the Nintendo Switch 2 could be officially revealed in the coming months.

“Doesn’t the fiscal year end in like March? So the fiscal year 2024 would end in March 2025,” said WirelessAir60, sharing the same insight of many others on the thread.

There’s no telling when Nintendo will officially reveal the Switch successor but hopefully, it will happen sooner rather than later and we’ll keep you updated when that happens.
