Nintendo may have accidentally revealed that the next game in The Legend of Zelda franchise will be here sooner than thought.
An eagle-eyed Redditor has pointed out that Nintendo added a crucial detail to the trailer for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment on YouTube.
In a new post to Reddit, SemiLazyGamer explained that Nintendo seemingly revealed when we’ll get to play the new game.
In the video description, Nintendo wrote, “Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment launches on Nintendo Switch 2 this spring.”

You might feel confused, thinking spring is in 2026, but this came from Nintendo Australia, and as other Redditors explain, “Seasons are inverted in the Southern Hemisphere, so spring = autumn.”
This would mean the game is due to launch this year, in a few short months.
So far, Nintendo has been pretty tight-lipped on when we can explore the prequel events to Tears of the Kingdom.
As one Redditor says, “If it does indeed release in September/October/November, I really don't understand why Nintendo is being so secretive with the release. Boggles my mind, they had a trailer for it in the partner direct, only to not give us a date when it could very well be 2–4 months from release.”

Now, this could be a slip up from the social and video team at Nintendo Australia, perhaps using the same copy as those in the Northern Hemisphere.
It’s an odd choice to keep things secret if the game is actually arriving before Christmas, especially as the game could sell like hot cakes over the festive season.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment will focus on Princess Zelda being sent back in time to witness the starting years of the kingdom of Hyrule.
The game will release for both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, and fingers crossed the Japanese developer and publisher announces the launch date soon.
