Nintendo isn’t known for horror games; the company is partnering with the team that brought us the Silent Hill 2 remake and Cronos: The New Dawn to deliver its own spooky exclusive.
It’s been nice to see Nintendo become more open to playing with others over the years, with the best example being its unique partnership with FromSoftware. If you told me years ago that the Elden Ring and Dark Souls developer would be making an exclusive for the company best-known for Super Mario I would have called you crazy, but The Duskbloods is real and it's coming next year.
Nintendo is also partnering with Bloober Team, best known for its remake of Silent Hill 2 which reimagined the horror icon and resparked a real passion for the series amongst the gaming community. I really don’t think Silent Hill f would have gone down as well as it did without the Silent Hill 2 remake clearing a path.
Speaking about the studio’s next game, Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno told Nintendo Insider that: "Fans of Resident Evil / Silent Hill will immediately feel at home.

"That said, Project M introduces a bold twist one that no horror game has ever explored before. This is a vision that could only exist on Nintendo hardware.”
The mysterious Project M initially sounded like a new Metroid game to me but I cannot imagine it is since Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has literally just come out.

That said, a horror-focused Metroid game would be a personal dream come true so I’m hoping I’m wrong…
A slightly more realistic theory floating around is Nintendo is bringing back Eternal Darkness, an odd but beloved exclusive for the Nintendo GameCube.
Whether it be a remake or a brand-new entry it feels like a safe bet, especially if Nintendo wants to dive deeper into the horror genre through its Nintendo Switch family of consoles.
What I’m most intrigued by is the promise of a “bold new twist”, and I can’t for the life of me imagine what it could be.
I’d guess it has something to do with the Nintendo Switch motion controls, or maybe the Nintendo Switch 2’s mouse-supporting joycons but who knows.
If Eternal Darkness is coming back I couldn’t be more excited, but if not Nintendo could at least bring it back through Nintendo Switch Online, making it part of the Nintendo GameCube Classics line-up.
