Nintendo fans are being treated to a brand new Animal Crossing release next month, but, uh… look, I’m just going to tell you ahead of time that if you’re expecting said release to be a video game, turn back now.

It has somehow been five whole years since we last got a new Animal Crossing game, following the release of Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the Nintendo Switch.

Well, that is unless you count them re-releasing Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, which I do not.

So does that mean this article is about the announcement of a brand new game? Oh, or perhaps even some new DLC?

Nope, it’s about shoes. Crocs, to be exact.

That’s because, as detailed in an article by Nintendo Life’s Liam Doolan, we’re getting some Animal Crossing-themed Crocs.

Here’s what Nintendo revealed about them in the press release: "This new collection features elements inspired by the lush, natural setting from the game. From the green tone that represents the land to the sole and strap inspired by the sea, see if you can discover all the Animal Crossing moments throughout the design of the shoe."

"The collection includes the 'Animal Crossing Platform Clog' for adults and the 'Animal Crossing Classic Clog’ for kids, making it perfect for fans and families of all ages. As opportunities for travel and fun outings arise, let these Crocs help you step into a relaxing, nature-filled world with your favorite characters right at your feet."

Admittedly, they do look kind of cute. Not cute enough that I’d be spotted in public wearing them, or admit to owning them entirely, but still cute.

I suppose, maybe, as a present or something they could be a decen– oh my god, these are $84.99?! Is that a joke?

Good lord, what are these things made from? Diamonds? Who in their right mind is paying that much for a pair of Crocs?
