This may be an upsetting confession to many, but I honestly haven’t been on my Nintendo Switch 2 that much.

I do feel bad about this.

Mario Kart World is heaps of fun, but it’s not one of the titles I’m personally most excited for on the console.

Professor Layton and the New World of Steam is the game I’m yearning to get my hands on, and the upcoming Donkey Kong Bananza is up my alley; I do adore a platformer.

I’m also itching for a new Animal Crossing entry, although I’m uncertain as to whether one is in store any time soon.

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is set to launch in 2026 which could tick Nintendo’s life sim box for now, but I’m really hoping a new Animal Crossing is in the works alongside it.

Financially, a new entry is surely easy money?

New Horizons continues to be one of the original Nintendo Switch’s top selling titles despite the final content update landing in 2021.

Many of those who dedicated hundreds of hours to the game in 2020 though are very much ready for something new.

While I don’t have any official news regarding a new entry, fresh speculation has emerged following a cryptic tweet from Nintendo.

Nintendo of America recently posted a short video to Twitter of a New Horizons playable character listening to records in a cosy office.

They captioned it, “Vibing #AnimalCrossingNewHorizons”.

This could mean absolutely nothing at all; it might just be filler content for social media.

You’ve got to admit though, it’s a tad out of the blue, with Animal Crossing fans now assuming this is a hint of some kind.

“Animal Crossing post in 2025?! Are you trying to tell us something Nintendo,” replied Robski696.

‘There was rumours of an Animal Crossing announcement for a Direct coming in July…is this it… is it finally happening?” asked Medalion2889.

“What did they mean by this?” asked serinide.

I’m afraid I don’t have an answer.

I’d love a new Animal Crossing to surface and I’m sure one will land during the Switch 2’s lifetime.

Will that be soon though or several years from now? The speculation is only set to continue.
