Newgrounds officially brings Flash games back from the dead

Flash is back, baby

This year is already proving to be a one of surprises, not least of all because Flash games are back.

At one time of the day, Flash games were all the rage, even if they typically crashed at the most inopportune times.

This hasn’t perturbed Newgrounds from holding a ceremony and bringing back Flash games from the dead, so to speak.

“It’s about time!” @HarryTheHuman2 responded after seeing the news.

As announced on its X channel, Newgrounds is holding Flash Forward 2025.

This is the fifth time the competition has been held, yet it’s amazing how few people are aware of this event.

What is more, not everyone is of the belief that Flash should make a comeback. On the contrary, some have said Newgrounds just needs to “let it die”.

To enter is relatively simple, provided you know what you’re doing.

Entrants need to “Make a game or interactive movie with Flash. Interactive movies include animation collabs with cool menu systems, or something with decisions / alternate endings.”

All details regarding the competition can be found on Newgrounds’ official website.

Undoubtedly, many of you are sitting there right now picturing The Skullkid, a game where you walk around an office with a chainsaw – and people say video games are violent now.

“Dude holy shit, I don’t even remember what happens in this game but I 100% remember playing it when my mom wasn’t around,” reminisced 762dreams.

Whether you intend to recall simpler times, or you want to make your own Flash entry for the hell of it, Newgrounds has you covered.

“Thank you so much for keeping Flash alive NG! Flash games like Thing Thing Arena and Ray kept me up for many sleepless nights as a kid,” @bl00dyc4pe420 shared.

User @EthanSteels said, “We have been blessed in the second month of this year.”

I couldn’t have put it better myself.
