Fallout fans are patiently waiting for a new update for Fallout 76, that’ll add a feature they’re praying will be an option in Fallout 5.

While it’s a little early to be speculating on Fallout 5 (I bet even Bethesda doesn’t know what it’s doing with it yet), it’s a safe bet to assume features introduced in Fallout 76 are here to stay.

Fallout 76 launched to a highly-critical response from reviewers and fans, but over time it’s been updated heavily and is finally a decent Fallout game, and it’s about to get even better.

An upcoming update will allow the player to finally become a ghoul, so if the crispy character was your favourite in the Fallout TV series you can now cosplay him in-game.

While that’s incredibly exciting, it does suggest it could be a feature that’s staying in future Fallout games like Fallout 5.

If you look at the Fallout Reddit you’ll find loads of threads speculating on this being a feature, especially following the success of the Amazon Prime show, so it feels like a safe bet to now assume it’s going to be there.

In Fallout 76 the option to become a ghoul will be locked behind Level 50, and once you’ve achieved a high enough level you’ll have to complete the Ghoulification side quest to transform your character.

Whether there’ll be a similar side quest to complete in Fallout 5 is yet to be seen but it would be just as cool to be a ghoul from the start of the game through the character creator.

Again it’s far too early to speculate, as Bethesda is currently hard at work on The Elder Scrolls VI though rumours say Xbox is pushing for an earlier start to development on Fallout 5 to capitalise on the series boost in popularity.
