Dying Light 2 fans rejoice because a major free update has just dropped, meaning you can enjoy your beloved survival game but with a festive twist ideal for seeing in Christmas and the New Year.

The franchise is known for delivering to its fandom, with the game arguably being one of the best supported currently out there; where other devs have had to cancel games due to a lack of interest or rising costs, like The Crew, Techland has kept the lights of Dying Light going strong.

Christmas just got a lot scarier in Dying Light 2 'Winter Tales'...

This major update includes the ‘Gifts From Above’ and ‘Winter Tales’ event, in which players can grab an assortment of extras before it ends on 5 January 2024. Villedor will be covered in snow, making it a beautiful backdrop of traditional fluffy snow, with ‘Santa Airdrops’ ensuring that presents are found by every girl and boy in the town.

Full details of the free download can be found here.

Alongside Dying Light’s Santa delivering good cheer, Baka’s Winter Market will open up so you can shop to your heart’s content and discover new items to take down those enemies on the naughty list. Be warned, there are a lot of them that need to get more than a lump of coal this Christmas.

If you really want to look the part, and we mean unnerving and absolutely terrifying, then you’ll need to get yourself the Grim Santa Bundle – it’s grotesque, it’s haunting, it’s festive as jolly Saint Nick himself!

There is so much to do over the festive period, with the shrieks of frozen foes calling to you from beyond the Christmas tree and into the dank, cold air of a dangerous night. Sure, the eggnog and cookies are tasty, but in this world, you have to fight for those delicious treats.

‘Winter Tales’ (which includes ‘Gifts From Above’) started on 19 December and will be running until 5 January, so be sure to don your Santa outfits and make merry by painting the town red!
