One of the Cyberpunk 2077 developers has shared a heartfelt message of thanks to fans who didn’t ditch the game post-launch.

The release of Cyberpunk 2077 has rightfully gone down in history as one of the biggest letdowns in gaming. After all the waiting, marketing and hype building the game failed to impress fans with its infestation of bugs and less-than-ideal graphics and gameplay.

Things improved slightly when the game launched on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 thanks to the more powerful hardware, but the game was still a far cry from what was originally promised.

Luckily CD Projekt Red didn’t give up on the game, pouring hours of time, and $120,000, into fixing things with post-launch updates. They also eventually released Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, an incredible DLC expansion that blew everyone away.

Now that the game is fixed, the team is moving on to other projects, namely The Witcher 4, though one of the developers has a heartfelt message to give to fans who stood by them until the end.

In an interview with Neon Arcade, CD Projekt Red’s Quest Director Pawel Sasko thanked fans for sticking with the game throughout its hardships.

He described the disastrous launch as “heartbreaking,” which is putting it lightly. The launch of the game was so disappointing that the game earned a spot in the New York Museum of Failures.

Nevertheless, Sasko was grateful for the support of the community, believing it fueled the team’s passion to fix the game. Sasko said: “Look at the reception of Cyberpunk right now, how it has turned … Look at the reviews, look at the videos, the discourse around the game. The fact that you guys come back to the game, play it again and have fun.”

He went on to say “I’m so glad that we kept going … I have incredible gratitude.”

It took a while, but Cyberpunk 2077 is finally the game it was always meant to be.
