Rockstar Clears Schedule for Massive GTA 6 News on April Fools Day

I'm the clown.

The latest Grand Theft Auto update to Rockstar’s official Newswire has sent shockwaves through the fanbase.

For the first time in a while, Rockstar Games has deviated from its rigid weekly update schedule to dump a massive, three-week-long roadmap for GTA Online. This could have a major impact on the expected GTA VI official marketing campaign, slated to begin this summer, including that Trailer 3 we all want so desperately.

The update covers bonuses and challenges all the way through to 1 April 2026. You can get triple rewards and a hefty $1,000,000 cash gift. If only that was in real life, right?

However, this leaves a suspicious 20 day ‘clean slate’, and players are wondering why.

On Twitter, one user said: ‘Rockstar covering three weeks of GTA Online at once? Pretty unusual move. Interesting timing.’

Combine this with an official PlayStation GTA 6 leak, there’s something suspicious about this timing of this post. Usually, we all check every Thursday to see which cars are on the podium and which missions are paying out double cash.

By consolidating the next three weeks into a single post, Rockstar has effectively removed the need for any "routine" news until the start of April.

At this point, I’ll take any GTA 6 news I can get.

Despite the hype, we have to stay grounded.

Take-Two Interactive recently confirmed in their February earnings call that "Launch Marketing" for GTA 6 is officially slated for Summer 2026. With the release date firmly locked in for November 19, 2026, a March trailer would actually be slightly ahead of the corporate schedule.

I'm Convinced GTA 6 Will Get News on April Fools Day

It's not the first time this GTA 6 rumour has circulated. Last year, some of the oldest and most respected creators have claimed to have received a ‘credible tip off’ supporting the idea that 'GTA VI trailer two will arrive in early April,” wrote Redditor LFCameron7.

“April fools guys, GTA VI was never made in the first place,” jokes CheeseisSwell, with Cecil475 adding “Honestly, it wouldn't be very surprising at this point.”

Rockstar are no stranger to hilarious, if divisive, April Fools pranks. Who else remembers last year, when GTA Online or Red Dead Online were transformed into winter wonderlands with the temporary return of snowball fights?

Obviously, Trailer 2 came out last May. But I wonder if the trailers could've been swapped round, and Trailer 3 is the one actually slated for April Fools Day 2026.

I low-key want them to drop it on April Fools Day - imagine the scenes. That would be the ultimate April Fools’ prank.

Imagine if they tied it into another delay fake out. The black post goes out - “hi everyone’, and our hearts stop. Then the next line - ‘April Fools. Trailer 3 in 10 minutes.”

It’s funny, but not likely to happen.

More likely, we are looking at an "announcement for an announcement."

We’ve seen it before - a 24-hour countdown or a simple logo change that precedes a trailer drop.

More fool me if Rockstar posts the GTA 6 Trailer 3 on April Fools Day. While Rockstar wouldn't risk the news being dismissed as a joke, the days leading up to it are fair game.

One thing is certain: Rockstar knows exactly what they are doing by clearing their schedule. Whether it’s Trailer 3, a pre-order announcement, or just a very cruel joke, the road to November 19th is officially heating up.
