Let’s be real, Assassin’s Creed III is a good game that gets too much hate, people only say it’s bad because it isn’t Assassin’s Creed II.

I’m a simple man, I see an Assassin’s Creed game with one of the Kenways in it and I’m all over it. While my all-time favourite is and will always be Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, I can confidently say Assassin’s Creed III is up there.

Unfortunately Connor Kenway’s one and only adventure doesn’t quite get the love it deserves, and I think that’s mainly due to it being such a shift in tone from Assassin’s Creed II, starring everybody’s favourite protagonist Ezio Auditore, who’s been canonically dead for 500 years as of 2024.

That being said some fans are starting to finally warm to the game, and are being met with a resounding “we told you so” from fans who supported it from the beginning.

In a Reddit post, Dr_couch_potato said they didn’t quite understand the hate the game has received over the years. While admitting the controls do have a slight “learning curve” to them, especially the new parkour and stealth mechanics introduced, the game is your standard assassin adventure and tells yet another memorable protagonist tale.

Fans pinpointed the exact reason why he gets such undeserved hate, and it turns out it’s through no fault of its own. The real reason is because it came after the masterpiece Assassin’s Creed II, and fans just “weren't ready” for the shift in character and story.

Some said it also boiled down to the setting being a bit bland compared to the Italian Renaissance, which we can get behind as the American Revolution is certainly a step down in terms of scenery. Ultimately though many say if you take the game for what it is instead of what came before it, it’s a solid Assassin’s Creed game, and one that deserves recognition.
