Ever since Bullfrog Productions dropped the original Theme Park all the way back in 1994, us gamers have been a little obsessed with running our own fairgrounds and filling them with all sorts of weird and wonderful rollercoasters.

The absolute, undisputed best way of scratching that itch in 2025 is via Planet Coaster 2, the sequel to the beloved game of the same name, that really took the formula that worked so well in the first and ran with it.

Now, it's about to take the next major step in its lifespan, with a brand new toy-themed DLC, as well as a free update for all players, that should markedly improve the experience across the board.

Planet Coaster 2's Toybox Pack Arrives on 4 December

Developer Frontier Developments today revealed the Toybox Pack, a new and complete DLC for Planet Coaster 2 with one of the more visually enthralling themes we have seen in the game to date.

In sharing the news via a press release, the developer said the following, "Frontier Developments are delighted to extend an opportunity to discover their next DLC for the iconic theme park sim Planet Coaster 2, the Toybox Pack, where Park Managers will expand their charming creations with a range of new rides and scenery pieces inspired by a range of classic toys and child-like arts and crafts, the perfect tie-in for the festive season when it releases on Tuesday, 4 December!"

The scenery additions will likely be the highlight for many, particularly those who are attempting to aim their park at a younger crowd, but there are some impressive tangible additions to be aware of as well.

Those include the New-Gen Inverted Suspended Coaster "Vector" and Kid Coaster "F&N Thriller Industries," as well as three flat rides in Highroll, Wavesim and Airdrop.

Not only that, but in very good news for the budget conscious amongst us, the developer is also dropping a major free update that should make a real difference to your next playthrough.

That update includes returning festive blueprints and scenery, as we approach the holiday season, as well as new seasonal weather in snow and thunderstorms, gameplay improvements, scalable animated scenery and upgrades to existing rides. For those who already own the Sorcery Pack, you can also now use a boomerang version of the Vector Child Coaster.

As mentioned earlier, all of that is set to go live on 4 December, so you don't have long to wait to get your hands on everything. Happy park planning!
