A blessing for anyone who's already played the game on consoles.

After a long wait, Rockstar's wild west epic, Red Dead Redemption 2, has launched on PC. While it's currently suffering from some quite severe bugs, in some cases preventing players from even accessing the game, it has already begun to enjoy some of the benefits of being on PC. For instance, character mods and graphics mods have already begun to appear. But perhaps most helpfully, you can install save files that let you skip the games opening hours.

Okay, right off the bat, let's just say that if you've not played Red Dead Redemption 2 before then you should probably avoid skipping the game's introduction. In part because it's the game's tutorial, but also as it sets up the story, introducing characters and important events. However, if you've already played on console and you've picked up the game for a new jaunt in the wilds (but with fancy PC graphics) then you may not be looking forward to three hours of walking through waist high snow in a largely linear fashion.

Happily, with the help of some save files people on the internet made earlier, you can jump ahead to skip the intro and dive into the game before any significant decisions have been made. This means, if you're happy not playing the intro, you really won't be missing anything out or joining a game that's already leading down a different path in the story.

Head over to Nexus Mods to get the Quickstart save. Once you drop this into your save's folder (details of where that is are through the link) you can load into the beginning of Chapter Two at the Horseshoe Overlook. "A quick save for those, who've already completed the game on console or just want to test out some mods," save file uploader Taurenhunter says. "If this is your first time playing the game, I'd advise you to experience it completely from start to finish as it's one of the best games out right now."
