Naughty Dog's next game will be announced way closer to release than TLOU Part 2 was

These lengthy waits ended up hurting the developer rather than helping it, in fact.

Naughty Dog's games are a marvel, don't you agree? Originally known as Jam Software, its first game under the Naughty Dog name was Rings of Power (not that one) for the Sega Mega Drive. It was awful. The game was such a disaster that the developer went bankrupt, it lost the support of publisher Electronic Arts, and somehow convinced Mark Cerny to offer the team a three game deal with Universal Interactive Studios. Bet you weren't expecting that. One final flop arrived in Way of the Warrior, and then Naughty Dog got into its groove when it created Crash Bandicoot. The rest, as they say, was history.

The developer is now acclaimed for its games that mimic the blockbuster experience, realism and impressive dedication to detail, and as such, all eyes are on its anticipated releases. Last week, there might have been more than a tiny The Last of Us Part III tease in an interview with creator Neil Druckmann, and it shared new concept art for the multiplayer game that's been waiting in the wings since the release of the second game.

Check out the trailer for the upcoming The Last of Us show, starring Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey and Nick Offerman, here!

Whatever Naughty Dog has in store, we won't be waiting too long for it following its initial reveal. "You're right, we did announce Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us Part II way in advance," replied Druckmann in an interview with Comic Book when queried over the developer's lengthy schedules. "But that actually caused a little bit of the work-life balance issues that we've sometimes had at the studio. By delaying that announcement a bit, we could play with the schedule more and we're more conscious now about how we're approaching production. So there's our [The Last of Us] multiplayer project and there's another project that I will not say anything about that's beyond that that we're also very much excited for."
