Yesterday saw Naughty Dog surprise fans by adding yet another update to The Last of Us Part II which will allow players to experience the hit game in a whole new way.
“It’s been such a thrilling time for us here at Naughty Dog, especially as we’ve welcomed so many old and new fans of The Last of Us into the franchise,” the official blog post reads.
“To celebrate all of your support, we have a surprise in the form of a free update hitting The Last of Us Part II Remastered today!”
Seemingly out of nowhere, Naughty Dog has introduced a brand-new Chronological Mode to the game which will allow players to experience TLOU II, well, in chronological order rather than have it split across Abby and Ellie’s story over the course of three days in Seattle.

“Those who have already played will know its story is told non-linearly, as Ellie and Abby’s motivations, realizations, and emotional stakes unfold across myriad flashbacks and present-day storylines,” the blog post continues.
“While this structure is very intentional and core to how our studio wanted Part II’s themes and narrative beats to impact players, we always wondered what it would be like to experience this story chronologically. And now finally, we can answer that question.”
This brand-new mode comes courtesy of both Naughty Dog and a collaboration with Nixxes and as well as a new way to experience the story, two very familiar looking skins were also added alongside the free update.
Following the news of this free update, fans soon arrived in their hundreds to share their thoughts on Naughty Dog’s latest project.

“This should’ve been the case in the original game smh,” one user shared.
User TheSeventhVoid wrote, “My biggest criticism of this game since the beginning was the pacing and back and forth of the story was very jarring.
I can't see this as anything other than that criticism being validated.”
With many players sharing this same sentiment, it seems as though this is finally a win for Naughty Dog.

Well, anything is better than yet another remaster.
