It’s always nice to see a second chance for MCU projects, even if it comes via a new medium.

Case in point, Squirrel Girl, a character which Marvel decided not to greenlight for the MCU via a Freeform show, is now getting a new lease of life in Marvel Rivals.

Moon Knight looks to be a force to be reckoned with in new Marvel Rivals footage.

Fans of the hero can rejoice as not only will Squirrel Girl feature in the team-based shooter due out this month, but she will be voiced by Milana Vayntrub who was originally set to play the role in the New Warriors show.

There has been a lot of great news about Marvel Rivals coming out over the past week or so, including a showing of Moon Knight, and an appearance from Spider-Man in his No Way Home suit.

It’s worth noting that Milana Vayntrub and Squirrel Girl already have a connection as Vayntrub voiced the character in the Marvel Rising series.

If you’re unaware of Squirrel Girl, she’s a slightly comedic character who has immense strength and can communicate with squirrels, forming quite an army of them.

We haven’t seen much more about her inclusion in Marvel Rivals, such as what her powers and abilities will look like.

Hopefully, she will lean into her more humorous powers, bringing some levity to the action-shooter that builds teams of heroes and villains fighting alongside each other.

Marvel Rivals is due for release on 6 December, releasing as a free-to-play shooter that uses a unique art style to transport players into the comic pages of Marvel titles.

When I first played the game during beta, I was a little disappointed with the playstyle which apes Overwatch greatly.

However, that was playing solo and when I got into a team with friends, the game really came to life.

I’m eagerly awaiting more time with the game when it comes out, and the future updates look like a comic nerd’s dream.
