Marvel Rivals' NSFW Captain America skin leaves fandom needing a cold shower

NetEase Games is accused of being horny on main, as a decidedly NSFW Captain America skin has made its way into Marvel Rivals. We know the anime industry has a somewhat problematic history with fetishising cartoon characters, while Rule 34 worringly states that if something exists, or can be imagined, there's likely a pornographic version of it on the internet. When you get a bunch of buff superheroes and cram them into lycra suits, you can bet your bottom dollar that someone is going to make a risque version of it, and when it comes to Marvel Rivals, the developers have tended to toe the line between decency and making bank.

That was until Captain America's Seaside Sentinel skin came along.

As we head into the summer months, Marvel Rivals has embraced the recent heatwave by releasing Captain America's Seaside Sentinel skin. Putting Steve Rogers in somewhat more revealing attire, the star-spangled hero is now seen sporting a patriotic singlet...and not much else.

When the Seaside Sentinel skin was first revealed, many couldn't believe their eyes, notably due to Cap's impressive package. The internet was initially confused, claiming that early leaks of the skin must've been faked with AI, because no way would NetEase create a character that thirsty.

However, when Seaside Sentinel arrived on July 1, we soon realised the team really went there.

NetEase's official description seems to gloss over Captain America's patriotic missile, simply stating: "The beach crew voted Captain America should man the grill, just like the red, white, and blue-blooded specimen of American masculinity people believe he is."

Even though we'd like to remind you that it's not the size of the boat, but the ocean in the motion, Captain America has made Marvel Rivals go viral for one (very large) NSFW reason.

Joking about the skin on Reddit, one gamer chuckled: "He has a new mobility special where he jumps into the air and helicopters himself across the map."

Another laughed: "Dressed like he's about to get disqualified from the pole vault competition."

Referring to a joke in 2019's Avengers: Endgame when a time-travelling Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) laughs about 'America's ass', someone else concluded: "The perfect counterweight to America's ass."

Some have gone as far as claiming Marvel Rivals is a 'gooner game', which fits neatly with GTA VI's recent update.

Loki and White Fox got similar summertime makeovers, although they're a little more reserved than the First Avengers' new choice of outfit.

Captain America is already being downsized in the trouser department

We don't imagine that the developers realised quite what a scandal Cap's love sausage would cause, and with that, there's already fierce debate about whether they've 'shrunk' his appendage. Well, maybe it was just a cold day.

Over on Reddit, one eagle-eyed player noticed that Captain America's skin appears to have suffered some shrinkage, writing: "Captain America's bulge has been nerfed. It no longer goes through the chair."

Others agreed, with another mourning: "RIP America's bulge, gone but never forgotten."

Someone else concluded: "Washington DC’s independent parade gets cancelled, and Captain America gets his crotch nerfed, worst 250th anniversary ever 😭."

Redditor L9-45 took it one step further and literally crunched the numbers to claim that his crotch rocket remains the same, so it could just be a case of angles. God knows Captain America wouldn't be the first man to try and make his appendage look more impressive with some clever angle work.

If we were NetEase, we'd lean into the hype and have Cap proudly salute the USA, but for now, the team is staying silent on the whole situation.

We've got to admit that it doesn't feel very patriotic to nerf Captain America's dong over the Independence Day weekend, but in a time when gaming companies are shuttering studios and accused of robbing us of physical media, worse things happen at sea.
