If you spent any time online over the weekend, there’s no doubt that you’ll have seen the many, many Star Wars announcements that have been flooding the social media timelines of nerds everywhere. From the release window of The Mandalorian’s third season (and the confirmation of a fourth) to the newly announced anthology series, Tales of the Jedi (which will see Liam Neeson return as Qui-Gon Jinn), there’s been a whole lot of stuff to get excited about.
With all the Disney+ Star Wars series that have been releasing in recent years, I don’t think that the death of the franchise was a concern on anyone’s mind, but just in case it was, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has well and truly put that one to rest. As reported by ComicBook, during an interview with Variety at Star Wars Celebration, she said that the series could go on forever.

“We're continuing to expand on Mandalorian, Ahsoka is the next iteration of that, and then what Jon Watts is doing with his show. It gives us different places on the timeline to look at, because there is this persistent story of Star Wars,” Kennedy told Variety. “That's what we're building on. So rather than thinking that we're just going to go do a one-off story, we're constantly thinking about ‘okay, what does this really mean inside the long saga and mythology that George Lucas created’. So it could go on forever, to be perfectly honest. If we have good storytellers, it will go on forever.”
It’s not just the TV and film aspects of the franchise that are seeing expansions, either. Amongst all the other exciting announcements at Star Wars Celebration was a brand new comic series focusing on Yoda, from Marvel Comics. The 10-issue series will be split into three different arcs, each one exploring different points in Yoda’s life, and is actually the very first solo-series that the iconic character has ever received. The first issue will be available to buy in October.
