Lord Of The Rings fans are thriving right now. Yesterday, it was announced that Private Division and Weta Workshop are teaming up on a brand new LOTR game but the truth is, we’ve got a two year wait ahead of us. In the meantime though, The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings of Power is due to keep us entertained and the show’s creators are opening up about the series’ “number one rule” for success.

Check out the epic trailer for The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power below.

Executive producer JA Bayona told SFX magazine (via The Independent) that the most important rule during production was that The Rings Of Power had to represent and bring to life J.R.R. Tolkien’s “optimism and love.”

Bayona explained, “When you read Tolkien's books, you can tell how much he appreciates beauty, so the show is full of beauty. [..] Tolkien is inherently optimistic, warm and emotional. This is a man who went through some of the darkest things in human history [WWI] and he didn't come out of that and write a despairing, awful story.”

She added, “He wrote a story about hope, and a little guy succeeding. We always felt that it was rule number one that there needed to be true optimism and love, even in the darkest, scariest moments of the show." The Rings Of Power is due to premiere on 2 September, so it’s not long at all until we can watch this optimistic tale unfold for ourselves.
